GY-39 Environment Sensor

The gy39 sensor platform reads the GY-39 module (datasheet): illuminance from its MAX44009 and temperature, pressure, humidity and altitude from its BME280, all through the module’s own microcontroller. I²C is required.

The module supports several modes. ESPHome uses the I²C mode of its microcontroller, which reads both chips for you. Select it by connecting pin S0 to GND (mode 2, MCU_IIC):

The CT and DR pins are then the I²C bus:

  • CT → SCL
  • DR → SDA
