APDS9930 Sensor

The apds9930 sensor platform allows you to use the Broadcom APDS9930 ambient light and proximity sensor (datasheet) with ESPHome. The I²C bus is required to be set up in your configuration for this sensor to work.

# Example configuration entry
sensor:
- platform: apds9930
illuminance:
name: Room Illuminance
proximity:
name: Object Proximity
  • illuminance (Optional): The ambient light level in lux, computed from the visible and infrared channels with infrared compensation. All options from Sensor.
  • proximity (Optional): The reflected infrared light as a raw count from 0 to 1023. A larger count means a closer object; the scale depends on the LED current, the gain, the cover glass and how reflective the object is, so pick thresholds for your own setup. All options from Sensor.
  • led_drive (Optional, string): The infrared LED current used for proximity detection. One of 100ma, 50ma, 25ma or 12.5ma. More current gives more range and uses more power. Defaults to 100ma.
  • proximity_gain (Optional, string): The proximity detector gain. One of 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x. Defaults to 8x.
  • ambient_light_gain (Optional, string): The ambient light gain. One of 1x, 8x, 16x or 120x. Pick a higher gain for dim rooms; a gain that is too high saturates in bright light. Defaults to 1x.
  • address (Optional, int): The I²C address of the sensor. Defaults to 0x39.
  • update_interval (Optional, Time): The interval to check the sensor. Defaults to 60s.
